Güvenok has always favoured BPW running gear for its trailers: "We are very satisfied with the quality," says Fatih Zorlu, Fleet Manager at Güvenok Logistics. "We were also looking for a reliable solution for our tyres that would prevent failures." Alexander Wolter from the BPW sales team in Germany and his Turkish colleague Fuat Andiç from BPW Otomotiv introduced him to Tyre pressure control system AirSave. The system continuously monitors and regulates the tyre pressure in the trailer during the journey – significantly reducing the risk of accidents and avoiding unplanned downtimes. "We were allowed to test AirSave for quite a while and it is exactly what we were looking for," says Fatih Zorlu.
AirSave becomes the standard
The fleet has 460 hazardous goods trailers. In 2021, Güvenok brought the first two tanker trailers with AirSave into operation. Four more followed the following year, and in 2023 there were 42 vehicles. "We have made the BPW tyre pressure control system standard on all new vehicles. We are planning ten new trailers with AirSave in 2024." This is because the technology has proven itself in practice across the board: "Our expectations have been more than fulfilled," explains Fatih Zorlu. "I had hoped that we would be able to save fuel and we are actually seeing a significant reduction: consumption has fallen and with it costs. Punctures have also decreased because the system warns when the pressure drops and automatically pumps in more air." Thanks to the continuous monitoring, it is immediately noticeable if the values become too low – a warning light then lights up on the trailer and the driver can drive to the nearest workshop.
Tyre pressure control reduces downtimes
"We have significantly reduced unplanned downtime for our vehicles as a result," says Fatih Zorlu. "I am relieved that I have the issue of tyre pressure under control with AirSave." The drivers are also very satisfied: "They specifically ask for vehicles with AirSave because they also feel safer with it." If the tyre pressure is always kept in the optimum range, the risk of accidents and unplanned downtimes is reduced, while at the same time the service life of the tyres is increased. "In addition to the fuel savings we have also reduced our tyre costs as a result," adds Fatih Zorlu. "And last but not least, this reduces CO2 emissions from vehicles and protects the climate."
