Enginuity: fast development cycles – designed and tested for a million-kilometre lifespan
Iffet Türken, member of the executive board at Kässbohrer: "Our 'Enginuity' approach – a combination of excellent engineering and customer-focused innovation – helps us achieve the highest levels of efficiency and reliability. Our engineers bring initial ideas to life with the help of 'rapid prototyping,' reducing development times. To this end, Kässbohrer conducts research and development in one of the most advanced test centres in Europe, covering more than 22,000 square metres of hall space. Every vehicle goes through stringent validation procedures, including virtual simulations, lab trials, and indoor, outdoor and real-life durability, performance and safety test covering one million kilometres."
Another milestone is the outdoor test track at the Mega Campus in Adapazarı, Turkey. Since early 2025, Kässbohrer trailers have been tested on twelve distinct road surfaces to assess torsion, vibration and stability. Iffet Türken: "This new facility is a valuable addition to our R&D infrastructure and significantly accelerates our development processes." Various BPW trailer axles are also put to the test here on Kässbohrer trailers.
The new outdoor testing facility enables us to conduct our track test on campus and notably speeds up our development cycles.
Europe's leading factory in terms of low bed trailer production capacity
In Adapazarı, two hours from Istanbul, Kässbohrer manufactures five series of low bed trailer, capable of carrying up to 80 tons of usable load and reaching 20,5 meters in length. There are models with up to six axles, self-steering or hydraulic axles, and fixed or extendable chassis. Additional options include wheel recesses, hydraulic gooseneck ramps, and more than 40 different ramp configurations.
Iffet Türken: "Kässbohrer ranks among the top two preferred brands in the European heavy haulage industry. Our low bed trailers are produced at Europe’s largest manufacturing facility for low loader trailers. Our metallization processes withstand over 2,500 hours of salt-spray testing without the formation of red rust."
A long-term partnership: Kässbohrer and BPW
The long-standing partnership between Kässbohrer and BPW is based on the highest standards in technology. This commitment to quality is also reflected in BPW's service network, with over 3,200 partners worldwide who take care of the running gears of Kässbohrer trailers on-site.
Furthermore, there is close collaboration on innovative Enginuity projects, such as the Kässbohrer e-Reefer electric refrigerated trailer. The combination of Kässbohrer’s premium insulation with a K-value of 0.31, the lightweight BPW ePower generator axle, and an electric cooling unit from Thermo King enables annual fuel savings of up to 4,000 litres and reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 10 tons – making it over 50 percent more efficient than other electrified refrigerated trailers.
