As a modern system partner for logistics, Manfred Jungels GmbH operates nearly 60 tractor units and about 70 semi-trailers – primarily mega trailers for automotive logistics, but also platform semi-trailers and silo trailers for building materials logistics and refrigerated vehicles. "We have been using the BPW AirSave tyre pressure control system for six years - we now never order a trailer without the system. Tyre pressure is constantly monitored while driving and is automatically regulated if necessary. If something is wrong, the driver can see this immediately from the flashing control device on the trailer and can then check all of the tyres straight away", explains Friedrich Giebel, who has managed the fleet at Manfred Jungels for eight years. At Manfred Jungels, the tractor units are replaced every 36 months.
The company's strategy is also forward-looking: "Our tyre management is outsourced to a large manufacturer who regularly checks the condition and the tread depth of the tyres. Our inventory is then adjusted as required. The tyres are fitted in our own workshop." BPW AirSave tyres are fitted directly to the axles at the factory and only require a few simple steps in the course of annual maintenance.
BPW AirSave: less fuel consumption, greater road safety and relief for drivers
The BPW AirSave tyre pressure control system permanently and completely automatically maintains the trailer's tyre pressure in the optimum range via the control system. "This has proven itself in practice", says Giebel. "Drivers perform a departure check but do not constantly check tyre pressures. But if the pressure in the tyres drops by 20 per cent, fuel consumption rises by up to 5 per cent." The system is a real-time relief for drivers and fleet managers and provides increased safety: "In the event of a sudden loss of pressure, the system pumps so powerfully against the pressure drop that the driver can safely reach the workshop. We're always safe with BPW AirSave."
Since July 2024, tyre pressure control systems are legally required for all newly registered commercial vehicles in accordance with the UN ECE R 141 regulation. AirSave exceeds the requirements of the regulation by not only monitoring the tyre pressure, but also automatically regulating it to the desired target pressure.
